Kim Kardashian, the reality television star turned businesswoman, and Kanye West, the rapper, producer and designer who now goes by Ye, began dating in 2012 and had their first child, North, in 2013. They married on 24 May 2014 at a ceremony in Florence, Italy, after a high-profile engagement that dominated the entertainment press. They have four children, North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm, and for nearly a decade they were one of the most scrutinized couples in popular culture.
The couple's wealth was largely separate. Kardashian built a business empire from reality television fame, founding KKW Beauty in 2017, selling a 20 per cent stake to Coty in 2020 for $200 million in a deal that valued the brand at about $1 billion, and launching the shapewear brand SKIMS in 2019. West built his through music and fashion, in particular the Yeezy sneaker line made with Adidas, which helped Forbes describe him as a billionaire. Each partner's income came from separate companies, which shaped how the divorce was conducted.
The couple married in 2014 and lived in Los Angeles, with their relationship playing out in public through social media and television. Kardashian filed for divorce on 19 February 2021 in Los Angeles County Superior Court, and in March 2022 a judge declared her legally single, separating her marital status from the unresolved financial issues. The rest of the divorce was settled on Tuesday 29 November 2022, almost two years after the filing, in an agreement that ended the case.
The confirmed terms are narrow. West agreed to pay $200,000 a month in child support for their four children, starting the month after the settlement, and the couple agreed to joint custody. West is also responsible for half of the children's private school tuition, college expenses and medical and dental bills. The settlement covered their assets and finances, but no asset figures were disclosed. West had challenged the validity of the couple's prenuptial agreement, and reports did not say how that dispute was resolved.

The business consequences came mostly from West's side. Adidas ended its partnership with him in October 2022, weeks before the settlement, after public controversy over his remarks, ending the Yeezy business that had made him a billionaire in Forbes' estimates. Kardashian's businesses were unaffected and SKIMS continued to expand. No ownership of either side's company was transferred in the settlement as far as has been publicly reported.
Because the asset terms were never published, this divorce cannot be ranked by money against settlements such as Hamm's or Wildenstein's. It is better known for its cultural weight than its size: the cost of the child support alone is notable, but the settlement is closer in spirit to a negotiated custody and finance agreement between two wealthy individuals than to the division of a single marital fortune.
